High-risk insurance classification

Auto insurance carriers may classify a driver as high risk, for various reasons including, DUI, multiple points on driving record, reckless driving, causing an accident while uninsured, etc. If classified as a high-risk driver, some states will require that the driver carry an SR-22 insurance form for three years. With SR-22 status, the driver’s auto insurance premiums will see a substantial increase.
